Ahhh…Summer!

Where does the time go?  It’s been two months since I’ve blogged, and I’m not even sure where to start!  May is just a blur now, with the exception of STAR testing and Mother’s Day.

And then June came along… A field trip to the park, report cards, end-of-the-year pizza parties, packing up my classroom for summer cleaning, 2 family birthdays, Father’s Day, and then the start of summer school–June has been exhausting so far!

This is my 6th consecutive year of teaching summer school.  Teaching summer school is always a challenge because classes are loaded with over 20 kids who usually need a lot of attention.  Every summer, I think “This will be the last time I do this.”  And then the next year rolls around and I think “Gosh, the extra money would be nice.  And it’s only half days.  What would I do with myself otherwise?”

So here I am, teaching summer school once again.  One of my co-workers asked me if I’m trying to set a record!  No, I’m not trying.  But, I may, in fact, own that record.  I’m not sure what to think of that.

We spent the last few weeks researching vacation spots for our 1 year wedding anniversary, and we just finalized our plans this week.  We’ll be celebrating our anniversary with a cruise to Alaska!  While Frank isn’t big on cruises, he said the one cruise he’d happily take is one to Alaska, so off to the glaciers we go!   Everyone we’ve talked to says that Alaska is just beautiful, and we can’t wait to soak it all in!  He’s looking forward to ziplining (which I’m really nervous about, but hey, I can’t pass up the birds-eye view of the Alaskan rain forests, can I?) and I’m really excited about meeting some sled dogs.  And then there’s the 24/7 food!  We really can’t go wrong!

Also coming up this summer:  a wedding in Los Angeles, the end of summer school on July 24th (can’t wait!!!), and another wedding here in Fremont.  Then it’s off to Alaska to celebrate!  Yippee!
