We Won! We Actually Won!

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Our 49ers were finally able to pull out a win! Yippee! It’s been a long time coming! The last eight weeks have been hard to watch. We seemed like a team with no spirit or desire…until today.

We played like we actually cared. We scored not just one, but five touchdowns. That’s a huge improvement for a team that hadn’t scored a touchdown in like, 11 quarters, or something like that.

Frank and I actually listened to the game in separate cars as we were driving back up to Fremont after visiting Turlock. I could see Frank in his car pumping his fist as I followed him home. We got back just in time to actually watch the last bit of the 4th quarter and overtime on tv.

It was great to be able to cheer again, rather than angrily yell at the television. A friend of ours actually wrote on his Christmas wish list that he wished for the Niners to score a touchdown. Well, Alan, you got your wish…and then some! We’re back!

Thanksgiving and Black Friday

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

We hope everyone had a marvelous Thanksgiving spent with those you love. Hopefully the food comas have worn off by now! I sure ate my fair share…of dessert! Cookies and cream cheesecake and peanut butter pie. YUMMY! My “dessert box” (for those of you who know the reference) was certainly full! Thanks to Diane and Alan for inviting me and my sister over. Everything was delicious and the house was beautifully decorated! If not for you, we would’ve eaten take-out leftovers!

I decided to avoid Black Friday shopping altogether this year. I was tempted, however, after watching a news report last night showing people waiting outside the Coach Factory Outlet in Vacaville. I had no clue they opened at midnight. After buying the car though, I promised no Coach shopping for me for at least a year and a half. I have to wait until like Feb. 2009. Bummer.

Frank, on the other hand, decided to wake up at 3:30am to go wait in line, hoping to get his hands on some hot video game items. He did pretty well I guess!

To those of you who braved the crowds, I hope you had successful shopping experiences! I live vicariously through you now!

Such a Fan!

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

It’s been almost three years together, and I think Frank just fully realized how much of a football fan I really am. Sometime in October, my dad generously gave us 2 tickets to the Cal/USC game. As the date grew closer, we realized that it would probably rain on the day of the game. Little did Frank know that I’ve happily sat through a fair share of 49er games in the rain. He was like “If it’s going to rain, maybe we shouldn’t go.” My response: “Are you kidding? It’s just a little rain. We’re not wimping out!”

So on that Saturday, I kind of dragged Frank to the store to buy ponchos and off to the game we went.

Sure enough, it started raining on our way there. And it didn’t let up for the rest of the day. We sat in the rain for the entire game. I cheered and yelled as I normally do, without complaining once about the rain, which I think came to a surprise to Frank. I think he gained a new appreciation of just how fanatical I truly can be. And he was such a trooper! It was great–well, except that we lost!

Can you tell we were cold?

Cal/USC 2

We looked a little Smurf-like too! The rain soaked through our sweatshirt sleeves and by the end of the game, they were wet up to our shoulders. At least we got some Top Dog out of it! Frank was so hungry that he scarfed down 2 Top Dogs, and I officially had my first Top Dog ever (even after spending 6 years of my life in Berkeley doing undergrad and grad school, I had never eaten a Top Dog).

When we saw my dad later that weekend and he asked if we had fun, Frank’s response was “Mr. Leung, your daughter is hard core! We sat IN THE RAIN!”

He never imagined he would ever do that. Just he other day, he said that he’s become more of a football fan after meeting me. And I guess I can say that now I’m more of a hot dog fan. :)

Go BEARS!

Dream Dinners Newark…We’re Coming Soon!

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

As Frank said “Today is a historic day in our lives…” Cheesey (love ya babe!), but so true!

We broke ground today! Our store is officially in the build-out stage! Yeah! We also put up our “Coming Soon” banner! Exciting stuff!

Check out some pictures from the first day of construction.

The “Coming Soon!” sign that Frank spent 2 hours (yes, 2 hours!) putting up (”Hey, it’s way up there man!” he says):

And finally, our first pile of dirt (we’re really proud):

We’re hoping that construction is complete in January 2008! Wish us luck for a smooth build-out! 2008 is definitely going to be a very exciting and busy year for us!

9 Months to Go!

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Today marks 9 months to go until our wedding!  How time flies!  In the last month, we booked our florist and we think we’ve decided on wedding favors!  Next steps:  invitations (Yeh!  It’s going to be so much fun!) and finding a make-up artist…
